Phoenix is the 5th largest city in the US and also includes the larger metro area of Scottsdale, Mesa, Chandler, Gilbert, Glendale, Cave Creek, Carefree, Surprise, Fountain Hills, Paradise Valley, Ahwatukee and more wonderful cities and towns.
Yet, in this large city there are many little known or almost unknown places of beauty and wonder to the majority of local residents of the Phoenix metro. It is my endeavor here to let my readers know about these hidden places that you may have never heard about. See them for yourself.
So here we go!

You can take Grandma and Grandpa and drive up a beautiful winding road with a picnic. There are stone buildings with shade and the vista is truly amazing. The city of Phoenix television towers are right there and the breeze is very pleasant on many days.
Yet, it is so close. You don't have to drive 100s f miles.

Per City of City of Phoenix Parks and Recreation: "At more than 16,000 acres, South Mountain Park/Preserve is one of the largest municipally managed parks in the nation and consists of three mountain ranges - the Ma Ha Tauk, Gila and Guadalupe. The park boasts more than 51 miles of trails for hiking, horseback riding and mountain biking. Additionally, the roadways throughout the park are a favorite for bicyclists. Dobbins Lookout, at 2,330 feet, is the highest point in the park that is available to the public. Accessed by both hiking trails and Summit Rd., the lookout is popular with tourists and locals alike, who want to get an unobstructed panoramic view of the Valley."
