A Throwback Thursday Of Sorts

Pondering Again I'm A Little Bit Country

A Throwback Thursday Of Sorts

Time Machine Alert.

It's suddenly back to the 1970s and a song which has been sung by more than a few, covered and parodied by others plus used in advertising for some likely and unlikely products takes us back to a different and perhaps a simpler time.  Some of the words as I remember:

I'm a little bit country. And I'm a little bit rock-n-roll.

Maybe it was true then but I tend to think there's an element of truth in the song still today.  Not necessarily musically speaking but in reference to our pick-and-choose personal jukebox.  It truly is less about country.  Less about rock-n-roll.  It's about bigger things.  More important.  Most important really.

Most of us, dare I say ALL, aren't square pegs trying to fit into round holes, right?  There's more to each of us.  Much more to life.  To examine.  To reflect.  To learn.  And to explore.  That's really just for starters.

Now, yes it's back to pondering.  And by the way, I may be city-suburban but hardly country.  Not that there's anything wrong with that.

Your words are wise my friend, we are all made up of more than whatever box we are put into by society or whatever.  Life is ever evolving and we change with it at times.  I love the path that you have pictured!!!

Michael, I like that song, I like many country tunes, and I'm singing along to it right now...no matter how square that may sound!

My trip back to the 70's this week was to take those tax returns to be shredded.

Brian England - maybe those boxes of yesteryear are a bit more virtual today.  Jus thinking.

Lawrence "Larry" & Sheila Agranoff. Cell: 631-805-4400 - no judgment,  Not from here!

Roy Kelley - the concept of "shredding" certainly isn't a 70s phenoneomon.  Many popular items/practices of that era are likely unknown to many today.  Time marches on.  And on.

Absolutely tongue-tied here.   I can barely stand country but once in a while, an interesting song comes along.  My Dad told me when I left Europe to meet his relatives in Texas and said this "Watch out for the hillbillies".  I had a true redneck uncle but he was all heart.  Dad played classical music all day but also bought some Supremes and Herb Alpert.  I liked it all.  But then the Beatles came along...

Barbara Todaro - I won't say change is easy or easier at any age.  Some people find it a difficult task although it is constantly occurring.

Kat Palmiotti - thank you on both accounts.

Mike Cooper, GRI - we have that opportunity everyday/each day.

John Henry - so many songs, so many memories - more than enough to fill a book.

Good morning Michael Jacobs ,

I'm trying to catch up on reading and commenting on some posts and was so glad to see yours featured in Kathy Streib "Ah-Ha" moments for the week. The power of suggestion..I'm humming that tune also. Ahhh..such a simpler time and who knew we would look back with such great memories!

Michael Jacobs, your post got me to thinking; perhaps I am neither country nor rock n roll.  However, I feel in each one of us deeply buried in our spirit and soul, we recognize the music we are meant to hear and the secret, the magic,  is to 'respond.'

Michael Jacobs - I concur! There really is a lot more to life than we think.

I like that photograph very much.

1970's I remember that year well - significant milestones for me.

Deep down inside, I think we are all a "little bit of country. And a little-bit-rock & roll!

Speaking of rock & roll, I just heard the biggest thunder I ever heard in my life before. It literally shook my house! I'm going to log off the computer now!
