DotLoop Review- Brokers Watch Out! Scammers

Do NOT sign the Dotloop agreement before understanding once you do they will not let you out, even after your initial year if you do not call and cancel first. I am a small Midwest broker with a limited amount of agents; I was talked into trying Dotloop because I had some interest from a couple of my agents so we tried it even though we get Transaction Desk free with our MLS.

We signed a 1 year deal to try it out and DotLoop, only one or two agents used it and I had a desk for 5 users so after about a year I called to cancel service as it just was not being used and it was a waste of money for the brokerage; I was advised by a very condescending account manager Amy Lipton that we could not cancel because they renewed our commitment for another year, seriously they automatically renewed our commitment for a year without even calling. I explained in a nice, respectful way that we are a small disabled Veteran owned brokerage and that only 1 or 2 of our people use the system and that we could not afford to pay for a system nobody is using, Amy Lipton was very nice in the way she explained it did not matter, our contract was automatically extended 1 whole year a few weeks prior to my call and there is no way to stop the agreement, she offered a solution that led me into yet another contract and I declined, she seemed like she enjoyed this part of her job.

So, I canceled my credit card, also advised DotLoop and this Amy Lipton that my agents who use the system are willing to sign up and pay direct so the company does not need to be involved but Amy and Dotloop didn't care, they just want to keep billing the company; I have tried to resolve this issue with the giant Zillow owned DotLoop on a few occasions and I am just told I am in a contract and there is NOTHING they can or are willing to do, I have even tried to communicate with a Scott Lutz but nothing from him in the billing department.

Apparently there are things in the DotLoop contract that allow them to extend your commitment for a year even if you don't need the system, now they have turned us over to some collection agency who scolded me for not trying to resolve this and not paying money I owed to DotLoop.

IF you are going to sign an agreement with them, put in your cancellation at the end of that year at the same time! They use this to keep you committed and treat you like your an idiot for not knowing about the automated 1 year renewal. I have never heard of any contract that renews for a year, never. If this was legal why don't Cell phone company's do it? the cable companies, apartments and so on? Because it in not Moral, Ethical and decent in any form to conduct business in this manner.

Thanks for sharing your experience David. I'm sorry to hear about your troubles. I don't use Dotloop, or better, I only use it when other agents force my hand. I limit it to downloading the docs they email to me and then proceed my way (DocuSign) since I refuse to input my clients contact information into their system. Still waiting for the day that an agent asks my consent before adding me to their loops

Hopefully there will be a resolution for you! You should also be able to post a review under products, if you haven't already done so.

David, some parts of Colorado use Dot Loop, but Denver metro uses CTM.  Thanks for the heads up!
