Yarnells Ball Team Searcy AR who were they?

Happy Team of Youngsters.

A friend just sent this picture  to see if perhaps I knew who the folks were.  It reminds me of the old training we had for writing reports.  Who?  What?  When?  Where?  All of these were important.  So who were these delightful boys who had probably just finished a game of softball or baseball.

When was this.  Possibly a year could be given.

What they were doing is rather interesting.  What are those things on the table?  Are those minature trees on the table?  And what is that in the hand of the man in the striped shirt?

And finally, where was it?  A park with a picnic table for sure. That building in the background looks somewhat like the old Searcy Library in Spring Park.  Go here for a great picture of the old library.

So now we need some input from the Searcy Sleuths.  Tell us what you know about this picture.  The last hint is the name on the shirt of one boy, Yarnell's!

Anita, the man in the middle looks like my first husband to me.  Maybe someone can identify all of them.

I played on a Yarnell's team but I don't know if it was this one. That could be me on the left side of the table on this end but I don't know for sure.

Danny, it is hard to tell who the kids were because few faces are shown.  What do you think the stuff on the table was?

former Searcian

The guess of the public library building being in the background is probably correct since the Yarnell's Ice Cream plant was directly across the street from it. Timeframe looks to be late 1950's or early 1960's maybe. Probably a Searcy Buddy League team. I remember Yarnell's sponsored a Buddy League team in the mid 1960's and a Little League team in the late 1960's. Looks like a birthday cake with trees decorating the edges and a baseball diamond with players on top, sits on the table (also a glove, ball and baseball bat). Notice the trophy in the front edge of the table?

Former Searcian, you have probably figured out the cake, which I never thought about, and definitely I did not see a trophy on the table.  You have helped tremendously in our search for answers!  Are you sure you are not in the picture???

I think the man on the right is Lou Hardin and the one in the middle is John Greer’s Dad.

I played on Yarnell’s buddy league team in 1962 or 1963 but not the team in this picture
