May the Fourth be With You - California Legislature Declares!

This is May 4th.  What does that mean?  Well, in California, it means our state legislature has declared May 4th as "Star Wars Day." Why, you ask? Because “May the 4th” sounds a lot like “May the Force” be with you!

There is also other otherworldly news this weekend.  For the stargazers out there, the Eta Aquariids appear before dawn on May 4th, May 5th and May 6th. For more information on their viewing, you can visit: http://earthsky.org/tonight

 

Meanwhile, here on Earth, weekend events in the Greater Sacramento Region are as follows:

(1) River City Marketplace is occurring in Fremont Park this Saturday (May 4th), from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm. The event provides an opportunity to shop local, support art, handmade goods and small business right here in Sacramento. For more information visit: River City Marketplace Events.

(2)  Tomorrow is also Cinco de Mayo. There are several events to help you celebrate in traditional form this weekend.  Perhaps you would enjoy the Fiesta en la Calle - Cinco de Mayo.  It is occurring in Southside Park at 2115 6th Street, Sacramento (near I-5) Admission is Free!

Funny thing is, I only saw the first Star Wars movie.  I liked it, but haven't seen any of the others.  I liked some of the characters though.

They were looking very hard for something they could all agree on, Chris Ann.  The good news is that I suspect they were helping boost the California movie industry, and also the opening of the new Star Wars themed area in Disneyland.  That can't be all bad!
