When we found our home at 120 Starhill Lane, we were immediately enamored with the neighborhood. Located on a quiet street with beautiful homes and plenty of trees, our home is a great place to return to and relax. Some of the specific things that we love about our house include the numerous, large rooms (great for guests and entertaining) and the beautiful views of the Patapsco Horse Center and State Park from the back of our home.
Our utility costs typically range from $100-$250 per month depending on the season which is impressive for this size home! We save money and have gone green through the solar panel installation with Vivint Solar and our supplier agreements with Green Mountain Energy (wind) and Washington Gas (carbon offsets). Water is supplied through Baltimore City system, which is one of the cleanest in the country and very reasonable.
This is such a friendly neighborhood with a nice mix of younger families and established long-time residents. There are numerous community activities throughout the year, including a spring party, trick-or-treating, and others.
WE LOVE CATONSVILLE
Catonsville is a wonderful town with great features for families, such as Patapsco State Park, The Trolley Trail into Historic Ellicott City, many playgrounds and other parks, and great schools. It is close to Ellicott City, Columbia, UMBC, BWI, and the Inner Harbor. Almost anything you might want to do is close by or easy to get to!
We like the proximity to both Old Ellicott City and Main St. Catonsville, which both have a number of great restaurants. Some of our favorites are Ellicott Mills Brewing, La Palapa, Catonsville Gourmet, and Black Kettle. The grocery store we use most often is the Giant at Rt. 40 and Rolling Rd. It's a convenient location and is open 24 hours. Across the street is the popular H Mart as well. This is such a great area for families and nicely located between Baltimore and DC for commuting to a wide range of employers and attractions.
Catonsville in general has a number of excellent public schools. Our home is right around the corner from Westchester Elementary, one of the best in Baltimore County. From there, students feed to the excellent Catonsville Middle and High Schools
