2019 Fiesta del Sol in Solana Beach
The 40th Annual Festival
The very popular music festival, Fiesta del Sol, sponsored by the Solana Beach Chamber of Commerce, takes place in about 2 weeks in Solana Beach.
The Fiesta del Sol is Saturday and Sunday, May 18 – 19, at Fletcher Cove Park at 111 S. Sierra Avenue in Solana Beach, which is just west of the downtown area and the Coast Road/Route 101.
The annual Fiesta del Sol is one of the San Diego more popular outdoor festivals, and coupled with a beautiful location by the beach, you can expect a huge crowd.
The best part is that it’s FREE to get in!
So what will you find?
Fiesta del Sol is a 2-day festival of fun, music, food (more than 20 vendors – OK food is not free), lots of musical entertainment, shopping, arts and crafts exhibits, and a special kids’ zone (several rides – the “Dragon” and “The Swing,” hands-on activities, a bounce house and slide, face painting).
There’s also a Pancake Breakfast from 7:30 – 10:30 on Sunday to support the Solana Beach Firefighters.
Of course we expect the sun will make an appearance, but it’s May Gray time so who knows along the coast. But given the fun this festival provides, who really cares if the sun shines or not?!
Music-wise, there are some excellent performers appearing on stage throughout the festival, in addition to an “unplugged stage” in the fine art area where you can enjoy some of the area’s favorite local bands.
Fiesta del Sol is free so there is no excuse to stay away unless you have something better to do. Given the expected crowds you might want to consider taking the Coaster (commuter rail) to avoid the parking challenge – the Solana Beach train station is just a couple of blocks from Fletcher Cove Park on the east side of the Coast Road.
