How Much Is That Dogma In The Window?

Every dogma has its day.

                                                                                                      Anthony Burgess

Conversations overheard can  often be confusing.  Things out of context.  Indeed.  And more.  The same can be true in a lot of situations.  Recently, I was reading an article.  The word dogma was used.  I thought incorrectly. Or maybe it was intentional for creative license.

But admittedly I get confused at times so I quickly looked up the definition online which informed me:  dogma is a doctrine or a corpus of doctrines relating to matters such as morality and faith.  Set forth in an authoritative or accepted uncritically.

I was right.  A victory of sorts I guess.  Sometimes reading like pondering can lead to abundant benefits.  At least I have found that to be true.

Morning Michael.

I read up on Anthony, an interesting person at least.  I'll leave it at that

Hmmm...well there are lots of people who have "pretend" vocabularies ...ego gets in the way.

Good morning, Michael... I'll confess that I'm more of a reader than a ponderer... I like that you ponder on my behalf!

Hi Michael Jacobs - I once knew a person who used big words to make himself look smarter. I think it has a much different effect on those who are around a person like that.

Michael, your intelligence always impresses me. I wouldn't have spotted dogma being used incorrectly much less incorporate it when speaking. I know my limits when it comes to vocabulary.

Endre Barath, Jr. - you have said before that you are a straight shooter.

James Dray - sometimes that's enough.

Sally K. & David L. Hanson - it's a hazard.  Awareness matters.

Nina Hollander - reading is fundamental, right?  Pondering, not so much.

Sheri Sperry - MCNE® - a wise lesson.

Amanda S. Davidson - nothing impressive about my intelligence although I have often been called smart followed by another word.

Michael Jacobs lol! Nothing wrong with that. Impressive intelligence and smart followed by another word... a perfect blend.

Amanda S. Davidson - LOL not everyone agrees with both but half truths have some validity at times, right?

Oddly enough, my grandson and I had a conversation about dogma, especially religious dogma, just this morning!

I find many words used in a way either not intended or just  simple misuse. Very interesting point  :)

Brian England - I often amazed when I am right.  HaHa

Myrl Jeffcoat - it's a topic of lots of discussion...not each and every day perhaps but often enough.

Thank you for the OFC highlight too.  I appreciate it.

Jeffrey DiMuria 321.223.6253 Waves Realty - I find words and their usage interesting.  So many ways to interpret, reintrerpret, manipulate, misuse and more.

Like you, Ron and I often look up words, and how they are used or misused.  I also can appreciate Endre Barath, Jr. comment.  At breakfast yesterday, I overheard a dogmatic conversation, which prompted us to change rooms and tables...there is so much force behind dogma...A

I am sure I have misused many words. That gives me a good reason to pick up a good book on this rainy afternoon in Maryland.

Alexandra Ron and Alexandra Seigel - it's fairly common for misuse of words to be found.  I shudder at the thought of being followed and captured electronically.  LOL As for moving locations when in a public location - I have been there too.

Roy Kelley - an excellent idea.  An on any day.

Kathy Streib - me too.

I never would have caught the misuse of the word.

I do remember the song How Much Is That Doggie though. A fond memory of my dad singing it when I was a child.

Michael, you made me think about the definition of "dogma" and how it may be related to something displayed in a window. I don't know the context, but could it be something that is widely accepted uncritically? While somebody is seeing a better perspective and questions it?

Sharon Tara - and that song may have more of an impact than anything else.

Steffy Hristova - the answers to "why" are endless, aren't they?

Grant Schneider - no rush.  Take your time.  Pondering doesn't necessarily have a deadline.
