What could you be Missing on AR??

Services for Real Estate Pros with John Henry Masterworks Design International, Inc.

If you do drive-by responses to the blogs you may find of interest and are not reading many of the valuable comments posted by others sincerely interested and affected by the subject of the post, you are losing potentially 50% of the effectiveness and benefit of the message. (my guesstimate)

A great blog means that great comments ensue.  Even a not so great topic may have great ideas in the responses!~  Comments are feedback and add more nuance and even other links and ideas: they flesh out the principal content.  So you gain more!

Yes, maybe a subject is not of great interest to you but someone who posts may add something that will definitely benefit YOU.  So, if you have the time, read through the comments.

I have read comments on blog topics that are even more salient, important, and actionable than the main topic!

You can even question the commentators or ask for more information to explain a point of view.

You may also get an idea in the comments to develop a blog topic that you can develop and post -- something that has been in the back of your head but just didn't quite realize it and knew you needed to act on it.

(Responding rationally, in an understandable mode of English, also raises your profile in the minds of others.)

Skim through the comments below the blog and find some additional gold nuggets of wisdom!~  It has happened to me, and I can only guess it will benefit you as well.

Just think: you could have missed some great ideas!!  So, go back to the thousands of posts you ran through and read some of the comments.  May be worth the while!

Yes, I know, so many blogs, so little time!

Great point, John. I find that to be true in the Q&A section, as well. Although, there are days when all I have time for is to read, comment, and run.

So true, and I enjoy when our posts create the kind of commenting you describe.  I also like when someone's post sparks lots of discussion and I like adding to them.  Sometimes my comments amount to another blog post.  A

There's a lot of it depends on whether I read through comments or not. Mostly it comes down to time, how many comments there are to read and whether the comments are in depth comments or just "drive by" comments for points.

There have definitely been times I've picked up more value in the comment thread, a tip that addressed a question, or a spark for another post or two.

Good morning John Henry - the people who are engaged do that for sure.  The comments add context to the origional message and could even be included in your own comment.  Lots of learning goes on.

Good morning, John Henry I'm often inspired to write a blog post after reading comments on someone's post .... and you're right about the comments often of more value than the main post!!!

Hello John - a lot can be learned when reading comments, answers and such as well as a post itself.  Time is an issue and I realize that but ActiveRain is so much more than mere points-gathering(although there's nothing wrong with that necessarily).  The sense of community and even commonailty that develops has made AR unique in my opinion.

Morning John.

Rarely do I read all the comments on those who I follow..  It's a matter of time management.

Hi John - you are absolutely right. There's more to a post than what's in the body. We learn from the comments as well.

Thanks Debb.  Comments charge your memory, you may find someone else to agree with who counters the main line of thought even, etc.  So many different angles.
BTW: I like how you've used the phrase "Specialize" in your description on AR.  I think that's a great idea.  Debb Janes EcoBroker and Bernie Stea JD
