The Colony was originally settled by John George The Colony in The Canyons at Park City Views Condas who made way to America through Ellis Island in 1903 and settled in Park City, Utah. A quarter way through the century John had acquired a substantial amount of property for his sheep-herding business. Sixty-nine years later Iron Mountain Associates began to develop the Master Plan for what we now know as The Colony. From the stories that live on about John and his family, they felt like Less is More and the developer has retained that philosophy. You won't find any condos located in the subdivision, but you will find homes on large parcels of acreage and many of the original homestead buildings that the Condas family built in the early 1900s. The developer began working on The Colony Master Plan in 1992 and the first phase was released in 1998. The 30 parcels that were listed for sale sold out immediately.
Newly Built Homes in The Colony at Park CityReal estate in The Colony is considered The Granddaddy of The Canyons Village. The development has won number awards because of the combination of natural beauty, lot size, home size, privacy, and world-class ski and snowboard access. The Colony has preserved 90% of the development as open space. There is no other development build around ski-in-ski-out in America that is as easy to access and has the status of The Colony. In the winter you can ski or snowboard into and out of your property to jump on over 400 miles of trails throughout The Canyons and Park City Mountain Resort which is connected by the Quicksilver Gondola. When living here you will be minutes away from Park City's Main Street, Kimball Junction, grocery stores, movies, fine dining, The Sundance Film Festival, and more.
Why Living in The Colony is a Fantastic OptionThe Colony Homes for Sale
If you're looking for a home in a luxury ski town there isn't an area in the United States that is better suited than Park City with the Salt Lake City International Aiport. The Colony works well for large and small groups of people and there is always something to do in Park City. The winter months allow for skiing and snowboarding and if the largest ski resort in the USA isn't large enough you can always take a quick trip to Deer Valley Resort, Alta, Snowbird, Brighton or several other resorts. In the summer you can hike or bike out your back door and enjoy the calmness the mountains provide. You can also stroll down to the Canyons Village base and take part in the summer concerts or jump on over to the Utah Olympic Park for some summer bobsledding.
The Colony Real Estate Why I Love The Colony
Starting driving into the entrance of The Colony you can start to feel your soul relax. Taking the winding road to a luxury cabin in the trees and passing the local wildlife of Moose, Deer, and Elk makes you feel as if you were hundreds of miles from anywhere. The calmness of the tall pine trees and open meadows lets you feel alive in nature. Every home in The Colony is a custom home that is more of a work of art than a building. Fine materials from all over the world are brought in to construct the homes and they can take several years to build. The Colony is one of the main reasons I decided to sell Park City real estate.
