Neapolitan Ice Cream Mountains Along Utah's Highway 12

By
Real Estate Agent with GreatWest Realty DRE# 00827565

Folks, here’s the thing about traveling certain parts of Utah's Highway 12. There are scenes which remind of childhood days at the Saturday matinee. Days where we soaked up black and white Western movies, like “Stagecoach,” featuring John Wayne, against alien looking landscapes with massive rocky spires, etc. The missing component in those movies was color, which was remorsefully absent in black and white flicks of the 1940s era.

Fast forward to today’s world.  When given the opportunity to actually encounter the landscape, one easily is overwhelmed by exquisite attention grabbing color, at every twist and turn along Utah’s unfurled ribbons of road.  At times they appear as sandcastles in the sky, while at others it reminds of Neapolitan ice cream with all three layers (strawberry, vanilla and chocolate).

Wait a minute. is that The Lone Ranger at the base of those bluffs? Wait up, Tonto?. . .I’m on my way!

What beautiful photos, Myrl. I've been to Park City and Salt Lake City numerous times, but have never really driven through Utah... something I'd really love to do one day.

HI Myrl Jeffcoat - I just had a funny suspicion that Utah was part of your journey. Love the pics.

So many westerns were made in Sedona and sadly....black and white. I wonder if there would have been more of a migration to the area!

Myrl Jeffcoat, your drive through Utah reminds me of the few times I experienced the awesomeness of that state.  For those of us born and raised
in Illinois and Wisconsin, 'THE PLAINES, you might imagine how surprised and struck we were at the sights.  Myrl, love your descriptions: sandcastles in the sky...Neapolitan Ice Cream.  Have a wonderful time, my friend.
