Are you almost ready for the future?

Real Estate Broker/Owner with Hamm Homes

How comfortable would you be as a passenger in a FULLY self-driving car?  When I mention self -driving, I mean it; No hands on the wheels, no foot on the brake, no eyes on the road, they no need.

"Well I would not like that much, but that is me.  but AAA research shows 71 percent of Americans are afraid to ride in a fully self-driving car.

We are moving in that direction already with cars that has assistance systems,  My car has a button to self park (it works great), lane chancing assistance, adaptive cruise control, automatic braking, and even automatic headlights.  The odds are good you'll probably find yourself soon than later at airports and transportation hubs increasingly come to rely on fully automated vehicles will take the roads in the coming year.  I wonder if they will find a gas station if you are running out of gas and taking a nap.

Guess we can sit back and watch a movie in the coming year.

What is your opinion  are you in the 71 percent against it or 29% for it?

Good morning, Will - I guess time will tell, right? Refinements are made, adjustments happen and pool it's the future.  Right now?  Probably not.  Someday?  It could occur.

HI Will- not a big fan of this. Cars can be hacked and if there's going to be a crazy driver behind the wheel, I'd rather it be me.

It is certainly coming, whether we like it or not.  I am really wanting to purchase a Tesla, but I don't have the money.  Maybe you could start a GoFundMe in the Rain for me?  Do you think the members of AR would contribute to a fund in order for me to purchase a Tesla?

Hi Will Hamm - I worry that many younger drivers who use all of these assistance features start to lose that clarity and crisp skill set that is needed for driving in situations where dirt roads and other terrain, etc. may not be programmed for self-driving.  I would see this mainly in congested city/highway type of conditions.

I hate to admit this, but I'm still a little leery of self-driving cars.  Technology doesn't always get it right.  But, I suspect with time, my confidence will improve, and may change my mind.

I am not much of a driver...but that sounds like one step too far inn reliance on technology when in many climates road conditions can greatly impact the way you drive.

Morning Will.

I don't know how to fly a plane but the pilots do.  I do know how to drive a vehicle and would not feel confident without a human being behind the wheel

I'd rather drive myself. I would not be comfortable just sitting in a car that has no human running the show. Even on a train there is a conductor/engineer. On a plane there is a pilot/copilot. On a boat there is a captain/navigator. I think there are way too many things that could go wrong. Imagine a virus that affects the car's technology. Ugh.
