We covered Curb Appeal in the last of our "get your home ready to sell" series. Today, let's go inside and cover a few more of the basics. These may seem like common sense items, and yet they are still the most frequently asked questions.
I've got a great board on Pinterest that features some great insight on getting your home ready to sell. Check it out at this link: https://www.pinterest.com/janaschmidtre/easy-tricks-to-get-your-home-ready-to-sell/
So back to the basics, almost without exception these items will give you a great return on your investment:
- Professional detail cleaning
- New carpet & interior paint
- Roof & gutter cleaning
When it comes to getting your home ready for market, the advice of a seasoned real estate agent such as myself is worth a lot of time and money.
It can be a tricky balance getting the right projects done. You don't want to spend money on home improvements that give you less than 100% of the return. Think about it; if a new deck costs $5000, but the value it brings to the home is only $3000, it's almost impossible to justify the time, energy, and cost of that repair. An agent with famailiarty will help you identify these potential pitfalls.
Seeing other homes on the market will also help you understand what may or may not need attention and what makes your home stand out from the rest. I find many homeowners are often surprised by the competition. Every market is different, you want advice and input specific to your market.
