WELCOME TO THE EASTSIDE OF PUGET SOUND

Kirkland Marina 1 (2)A LITTLE ABOUT THE EASTSIDE…

Nestled east of Seattle between Lake Washington and the majestic Cascades Mountains lies what is known as the “Eastside.” It is a place of urban sprawl, suburbs and cosmopolitan communities that come together with pristine outdoor space.  Outdoor recreation abounds with the vast number of parks, forests and trails – all this despite the exponential development and growth.  The Eastside is often described as software country, where high-tech companies like Microsoft, Nintendo, Google make their home.  Costco Wholesale’s flagship warehouse is also part of the ever growing Eastside business community.

With population on the rise, master planning is essential.  You can find everything from “urban villages” and planned communities – also known as “suburbia” to small farms, ranches and dairies situated in the foothills of the Cascade Mountains.

 Homes

Eastside communities comprise of: Bellevue, Kirkland, Redmond, Woodinville, Mercer Island, Medina, Clyde Hill, Hunts Point, Sammamish, Issaquah, Newcastle, Eastgate, Newport Hills, Duvall, Carnation, Fall City, Snoqualmie and North Bend.

 Dining and Shopping

Suburban shopping is available throughout the various Eastside communities, but Bellevue, being the Eastside’s largest city is its economic heart. There is destination shopping available at The Bellevue Collection (Bellevue and Lincoln Square) featuring many National brand stores, boutiques and the only Neiman Marcus Store in the Pacific Northwest. Redmond Town Center is a wonderful open are mall for those that don’t want to venture too far from home.

The Eastside is virtually a melting pot of ethnicities making it easy to find the wonderful tastes of the world in almost every community.  Treat yourself to a fine dining experience or to a quick simple fast food meal – it all can be had on the Eastside of Lake Washington.

 Entertainment

You don’t have to go into Seattle to enjoy the nightlife, Bellevue has some wonderful bars and clubs, as well as the Bellevue Ballet, Bellevue Chamber Chorus and Civic Center.  Take the time to visit the Bellevue Arts Museum offering exhibits, lectures and workshops.  Tour the wine country in Woodinville or one of the many breweries. Take a short drive to Remlinger Farms for the freshest produce and homemade goodies.

 Parks and Recreation

Even with the expansive growth in population on the Eastside, there is still plenty of preserved space for parks, and a multitude of outdoor activities.  Fish, swim, boat or waterski at Lake Sammamish and Lake Washington.  Is golf your game?  How about 18 holes at The Golf Club at Newcastle with sweeping views of Seattle and the snow-capped Olympic Mountains. Rather be hiking?  Join the crowd scaling Mt. Si with its elevation gain of over 4000 feet to take in the incredible breathtaking views.  Bike, skate, walk or jog the Burke Gilman trail or one of the other walking systems that are abundant on the Eastside. Experience all it has to offer!
