Trees for Boulevards

By
Services for Real Estate Pros with Ward County Notary Services

Every city has different rules regarding what trees you can plant on your boulevard, after all it's technically it's "their" boulevard. Before you plant a tree you best check with the city forestry department to be sure you can plant a tree there at all. Usually the idea behind this is that they don't want you to plant trees that may interfere with overhead power lines years down the road.

Boulevard trees

The Minot Forestry Department (a department of Minot Parks) is now taking orders for boulevard trees to be planted this spring. Trees are $100.00 and they plant it for you. For an extra $25.00 they will also warranty the tree for one year. There are 12 varieties of trees available this year. You can view the list of trees HERE and visit the Forestry Department website HERE.

BOB I remember in Marina Del Rey 40 years ago they planted trees that had bad root issues... and long and short of it ruined the street as well as the sewer lines... then with no discussion the County came in and whipped them out visualize 40 year old mature trees being knocked down... hope your politicians will not be as stupid as ours...Endre

Morning Bob.

I don't recall if we have such a rule or not.  With all the high winds we get around here it would be wise to plant them far away

Bob,

Great ideas.  With our county being prone to fires, certain trees like eucalyptuss which will burn instantly are no longer allowed.  It is smart to know what will grow in your area.  A

I think it's a control issue due to the expense the City has having to trim those trees away from power lines Grant Schneider .

Endre Barath, Jr. the concern here is trees interfering with power lines so most of the trees available are dwarf trees. I get the lack of foresight by City leaders as at one time the trees to plant were all elm trees... Dutch Elm disease took care of that in a big way. After that their choice was Ash... now the Emerald Ash Bore is taking care of those.

This plan by the city seems to be a good idea James Dray for the same advice you give as well as annual trimming needed to keep them from power lines.

Ron and Alexandra Seigel I did not know that about eucalyptus trees. It only makes sense that they would ban them in residential areas.

It is a good deal Wayne Martin plus they take care of checking with the utility companies to see that there is nothing buried beneath the surface under your tree.

They don't actually name a tree after you but they plant it in your yard for you so you can name it at that point if you wish Brian England .

I like the idea of being able to plant trees in one's name.  It would be a great way to memorialize folks that passed on too.
