Licensee Name Required in Real Estate Advertisements in Maryland

A real estate licensee may not use any name in any advertisement except the name which appears on the wall license or pocket card. All advertisements MUST include a first name and a last name. If a licensee wishes to use a nickname as a first name, the licensee may apply to the Maryland Real Estate Commission to trade under a nickname other than the full legal of the licensee.

For example, my name is Calvin Roy Kelley. I go by Roy and had to apply to trade as Roy Kelley.

Licensees need to be careful with the use of their name in blog signatures.

I don't believe I've ever seen a blue poppy up close and personal.  Love the photo, Roy!

Hello Roy AKA Calvin - we have similar rules in California.  It's important that licensees in any professions that has rules that they be followed.

We need to even have our License number with our marketing, hence if you look at my email signature block etc... it is good to even check see if the person's license is active or not...Endre
