Inspiration for 5/20/19

by Patricia Feager

"Great things are a series of small things brought together."

---Vincent Van Gogh

I must have passed by a dozen or more of what appears to me to be cattails growing individually or in pairs but when I saw this large assortment together as a whole, they seemed to poke my imagination and remind me just how good and great they look when brought together to flourish with the diversity of other plants planted in between. Suddenly, I took notice of the bigger picture or finer things in life and it was the small things that really made me consciously aware of this life phenomenon. ---Patricia Feager

"It is not the language of painters but the language of nature

which one should listen to, the feeling for the things themselves,

for the reality is more important than the feeling for pictures."

---Vincent Van Gogh

I have no idea how many people walked by this bench with the vibrant pink petals at its legs or if anyone else noticed but it took my breath away and there I stood on the path, resting in awe at all its beauty. I had no desire to sit. For me seeing was believing that the best way to improve health and general well-being is to exercise our eyes and when they are drawn to something beautiful it is better to stay awhile, be in the moment, focus on all what is really right in front of you. Sitting down to rest pounds of flesh and bones is not an option --- Patricia Feager

"What would life be if we had no courage to attempt anything?

---Vincent Van Gogh

Here I paused again. What are the greatest acts one can do to achieve the biggest results? Before long, there were more philosophical thoughts floating around in my head. If every day we spent more time to acquire deeper knowledge and understanding of our natural world than perhaps the real world wouldn't be so hard. Life is a series of growth and opportunities but most important is to discover the courage within. ---Patricia Feager

Hi Patricia- I couldn't agree more. Besides the exercise we get each morning when we walk, Larry and I have come to appreciate the little things that nature offers us. We've also been paying more attention to the beautiful songs that birds sing.

Good morning, Patricia Feager, MBA, CRS, GRI,MRP everyone would be wise to take a page from your book....

If every day we spent more time to acquire deeper knowledge and understanding of our natural world than perhaps the real world wouldn't be so hard.

Good morning Patricia Feager, MBA, CRS, GRI,MRP ,

I'm so glad that Kathy Streib featured your post in her "Ah-ha" moments for the week! A delightful, insightful message we should all take time to absorb. Your photos are wonderful and the quotes fit perfectly. So much we take for granted and don't really experience. The first quote from Vincent Van Gogh especially spoke to me. Thank you for always making us pause and ponder about things we need to take time for.

Those are lovely pictures. Just the other day, I walked on a "carpet of flower petals" and felt joy.

Jill Sackler - It must have made you feel wonderful to walk on petals. I think that would make a lovely photo of you too. Perhaps if they are still there, have someone take some photos of you, including sitting down to look like you are sitting on a carpet of flowers. I think that would be cool!

faye schubert - There really is a lot to learn from our gardens and all the beauty we see. When it comes to Mother Nature, we should never take the beauty for granted.

John Henry - Thank for the fine compliment. Coming from someone who has studied in the beauty of architecture, this means a lot to me. I started to go into that field but had to stop when it came to CAD.
