Monday Miscellany - Habits and a Shoutout

Another Monday and various things are floating around in my mind. This week's miscellaneous thoughts that are taking up brain space include establishing habits and giving a shout-out!

Monday Miscellany
Habits

Late last October, I shared my frustration with physical exercise. For years I would go out for a run but I'd wind up doing most of the distance by walking. Every time I started huffing or puffing, or got hot, or was achy, I'd walk. It annoyed me because I thought I could do better, but I wasn't.

And then one day I made a decision to run for two miles, without stopping, no matter what. It was hard, but I did it, even up a long hill. I was happy with myself and my progress.

Well, long story short, I now exercise 6 days a week and at least 3 or 4 of those days include runs. Those runs are usually 4 miles long, and yes, I run the entire thing. Exercise has become a habit and when I miss a day I feel uncomfortable.

So what's the point? New habits are very hard to make, just as bad habits are very hard to break. The transition from the current status to a new one is hard. But once you get to a point where that new thing has become a habit, you have to do it. If you don't, you feel as though something is missing. So whether you're trying to make prospecting a habit, or exercising, or certain phone calls, or remembering to keep track of expenses, or whatever. Keep going. Keep doing it. Keep trying. After a while it will become second nature and you won't even have to think about it. And that is a great feeling.

A shout-out

Teamwork in the real estate business can either make our jobs very difficult (when it's not working) or extremely smooth. Having a core team of people who can help get a purchase or sale to the closing table is critical in keeping things simple and stress free for our clients. The key people who help in this regard could be attorneys, mortgage brokers or inspectors (among others). When we've found those who help make sure our clients are taken care of, we've found winners!

As such, I wanted to give a huge shout-out to an excellent mortgage team I've been working with. They are great at their job, providing various financing options to buyers. If they say someone is pre-approved, those buyers will get that mortgage! Closings are among the smoothest and fastest I've ever had the good fortune of attending. From start to finish, their closings usually last between a half hour to an hour, which in our area is extremely quick.

Further, this team is focused on helping others. They are part of the Homes for Heroes program, where they provide additional benefits to military, fire fighters, law enforcement, first responders and the like.

So if you are a buyer in the Orange or Rockland County areas of New York, and you need a pre-approval OR if you are a buyer's agent looking for a new mortgage professional, call Michelle Curtis and Benny Persichetti of Embassy Funding at 800-991-5309. They can also be reached at team@ bestmortgageoption.com. They are amazing at what they do, and you will not be sorry you reached out to them!

And those are my thoughts of the moment. I wish you a wonderful week!

Proud of you Kat, determination and you have what it takes.  I try to walk 8000 steps a day and do it 90% of the time.

Bad habits are difficult to break and good habits are difficult to develop, but we have to make the effort to make good habits the routine, as you have done with your exercise!

I remember 21 days is the time that it takes to break a habit or create a new one, Kat! But, I swear, it's more like a year for me! LOL

KUDOS to you for living a healthier lifestyle and pushing yourself to do so. And, how wonderful of you to give kudos to your mortgage team. They do so much to make us shine - we should, indeed, give them props!
