Alright, I know that times are tough in the real estate industry, but never did I ever expect to see something like this before.  In Escondido, California there is supposedly a development group called Michael Crews Development that took the controversial leap and offered to give a house valued at $400,000 to anyone who bought a house valued at $1.6 million or more in the area called the Royal View Community.

I actually came across this at the Luxist Blog, but I had troubles actually trying to find this deal on the Michael Crews Development site.  There was also a post done on this blog where another property group is willing to give anyone a Maserati Quattroporte with the purchase of one of their $2.2-$3.6 million townhomes in Bellaire.

So, that being said, what do you think about this?  Do you think it's over the top or appropriate for these kinds of high-end properties?

One of my clients bought a pair of houses from a developer.  He jokingly said that the prices were down about 30% from the previous year, and it was almost 2 for 1.  The developer shot back that he'd sell him two for the price one used to be if he could close the next week...

He gave him $100,000 earnest money and gave a house to his mom.  The builder's jaw dropped when my guy said... "ok."

Wow. That seems crazy.  Why not just lower the price some to sell it.  How do you give away a $400K home...
