Just a Thought...Why Not Just Smile and Move On?

When  I was a little girl, if something was served for dinner that I didn’t like, I was taught not to make a big show of not liking it.

Just don’t eat it. Don’t push it all to one side of the plate and separate it just a toughtas if it were a crime scene.

It would have been rude to say for example “I don’t like cauliflower.” It would also have been very obvious if I’d made a point of eating everything but what was pushed all the way to one side of the plate.
What purpose would it serve?

This doesn’t just occur at the dinner table but in other life situations.

Unless specifically asked is it always necessary to let your opinion to the contrary be known?

We see it in social media comments (including ActiveRain) and I often wonder what is it the person is hoping to achieve.

Is it to show some kind of superiority? Is there some kind of narcissistic need to make everything about them?

We all see this in comments on Facebook or other social media platforms. And yes, nice as we are here, there is the occasional commenter who just can’t help themselves.

You don’t like a post? You don’t like the kitchen in the house that is featured in the member’s listing? Who asked you???

Just smile and move on!

Oh and if there is a typo or something like that, be kind. Send the blogger an email or text or pick up the phone and call them. It truly isn’t necessary to announce to others that this person had an “oops” moment.

The rule in our house was you had to TRY everything...at least a little...except for beets...you had to have two or only one of your cheecks would be "rosy"...and we believed it !

Good morning Barbara. Kathy should get kudos for this one. As a terrible typist and consistent blogger here in the Rain, my friends constantly call out my "oops" in private.

As for certain blogs. if I can nothing say something nice, I just move on! Enjoy your day!

Barbara, Kathy provides good advice in this blog.  But unfortunately even here on AR we have those who feel it is their duty to correct others, even when it will not serve any constructive purpose.
