As an employee of a water testing lab serving fort myers, cape coral and Lehigh and Naples, it seems that we are seeing a lot more private wells fail for bacteria lately. As if this wasn't bad enough news, we're also seeing a lot of well water failing due to fecal coliform. In the last two months we've seen more wells fail for fecal coliform than we saw all of last year. The good news is it is not that hard to fix this condition....just make sure to give yourself a little extra time in case you have a closing contingent upon getting a passing water test. We are seeing such a high fail rate for bacteria that we now include free disinfection of water treatment equipment as part of our testing protocol.
