Thoughts On Honor, Sacrifice, And Freedom For Memorial Day Weekend
Thank you, Nina, for such a beautifully written post. Freedom isn't free and as we all enjoy our freedom this weekend may we also honor and remember those who sacrificed everything for us.
Honor, Sacrifice, Freedom, Never Forgetting...
As we begin to look towards the Memorial Day Weekend holiday, let's never forget that we enjoy our many freedoms in the United States of America because there have been so many throughout our history who sacrificed their all to protect our freedom.
As I do each year, I've posted my favorite Memorial Day Tribute video, which never fails to move me. It is all the more powerful because it is silent except for the music. The message is simple and powerful: Honor, Sacrifice, Freedom Is Not Free, and We Should Never Forget. As Elie Wiesel said: "Without memory, there is no culture. Without memory there would be no civilization, no future."
In the spirit of remembering why we observe Memorial Day and why we can enjoy this long weekend holiday in the first place, please take a minute to watch this video to remember and honor those who gave their lives for our great country, as well as to never forget that freedom is not free and has been paid for with the blood of the heroes who were willing to pay the ulitimate price with their lives for our nation and our freedom.

Let us observe this Memorial Day Weekend in memory of many and in honor of all. Thank you to all who have sacrificed for our freedom. We owe each who has sacrificed a debt that can never truly be repaid. Never forgetting that sacrifice is but a small down payment on that debt.
