This Week...Humidity Kicks In

You can’t say I didn’t know...afterall I was born here. Not only that but living in Florida for 30+ years I was also used to hot and humid days.

Sunshine is delicious, rain is refreshing, wind braces us up, snow is exhilarating; there is really no such thing as bad weather, only different kinds of good weather. John Ruskin

This past week Larry and I must have picked the most humid day we’ve had to go to our local nursery. It felt as if we were in a sauna. At one point, when Larry was deciding on which vine to get, I said  Just pick one!

If you want to see the sunshine, you have to weather the storm. Frank Lane

Thankfully there are a lot of trees where we walk but even then if there isn’t a breeze, you’re walking in “hot” shade!

We were able to get our birdbath with a fountain working so that our birds and squirrel would be well watered.

A change in the weather is sufficient to recreate the world and ourselves. Marcel Proust

If you’re out in this weather, don’t forget two things...sunscreen and hydrate!!!

Have a wonderful Memorial Day Weekend!

Good morning, Kathy... I've been to Houston at high humidity... and to New Orleans... and to Charleston... not a comfortable way to live! Oh yes, and then there's 22 months of living in Abu Dhabi with 120 degree temps in summer and humidity at 90+.

Humidity is rare in our world.  It’s quite uncomfortable though and I hope it gets   a bit better for you soon.  Today it’s supposed to hit 71 in Juneau. We are feeling lucky.

Kathy,

We have had lovely weather in Florence, and rain is predicted for the next  two days.  No complaints, and we are going on an excursion to another town for  lunch...A

Brian England what's funny is that when we visit AZ I drink gallons of water because I'm not used to how dry it is.

Nina Hollander omg...I don't know if I could handle that unless I stayed in air conditioning all of the time.

Debb Janes EcoBroker and Bernie Stea JD 71 degrees sounds good!  The humidity is worse when there is no breeze at all.

Ron and Alexandra Seigel that sounds ideal. We have a graduation bbq tomorrow late afternoon and I'm sure it will be HOT.

Will Hamm I think it's all about what you're used to. I have a hard time when I'm in really dry weather.

Sharon Lee you do drink a lot of water!!! (and then your skin looks great!)

Grant Schneider stop rubbing it in!!! Hello to Phyliss!

Too bad you are not in Florida now. Every day is in the 80s but with a cool breeze. Best may I have experienced so far.

It's not been super humid here in Northern VA yet, but I know those days are coming.  I'm sure the humidity will arrive right on time for me to melt putting open house directional signs out today.

Hi Kathy,
I love ALL your quote choices for this post.  The one by Ruskin reminded me of what my brother (who has some significant health challenges) often says: "Every day is a great day. Some days are just greater than others."  I admire him for his positivity.

Hope you're having a wonderful weekend!

Hi Kathy,   It seems there are so many fewer things we can enjoy outside when high humidity kicks in.  Luckily, we haven't had much of a problem yet this spring.
