Distractions are more than cell phones

Real Estate Agent with RE/MAX Checkmate 260532

Distractions are more than cell phones.  They come in all shapes and sizes.  This picture shows a perfect example of one of the craziest distractions I witness on a daily basis.  Yes, cell phones are bad, talking, texting, horrible distractions.  But driving with a dog on your lap is just as bad.  If you are a true animal lover, invest in a pet car seat.  There are several different styles and types of pet car seats and they appear to be very easy to get the pet in and out and comfortable as well.  There are booster seats, harnesses, and strap in buckle down seats similar to a childs car seat.  It is really quite interesting how far along this technology has come.  Most of these seats are for the smaller dogs, but those are the dogs that would be sitting on your lap in the front seat.    be safe out there and buckle up....your pet!   We have lots of interactive information on our website Johnsoncityhomebuyer.com

We also have all the information you need to search online for homes in the Tri City's area.  Or call me direct Cindy Edwards 423-677-6677  Team # 423-435-3109  Kingsport, Johnson City, Bristol, Jonesborough, Elizabethton, Erwin, Piney Flats, and surrounding area.

Hi Cindy- I see this all of the time as well. Besides being a distraction, if you have to stop suddenly or have an accident, your pet is a flying projectile. Buckle them in!

Great reminder, Cindy, that pets can be a distraction in the car. We never had dogs small enough to sit on laps, but even with larger dogs, they were always contained when in the car.

Good morning Cindy Edwards - oh yes, that is most certainly a distraction and anything that interferes with concentation on the road should be stopped.

Hello Cindy - this common sense approach proves "I care about my pets" is more than lip service.  A truly caring act.

How right you ARE !  The first time in the car with my first cat many years ago I learned that lesson...she thought under the gas pedal was a good place to "hide" !

Not only does a dog carrier keep the driver focused, it also protects the dog in case of an accident. I think we all know what happens when something bounces around loose in a car accident . . .

Driving with a pet on your lap is the same as driving with a toddler on your lap. Neither is a safe choice.

Great post. I think everyone with a pet should be reminded of the safety that comes when you Buckle-Up ... you and your pets.

Hi Cindy:

I see people driving with dogs on their laps all the time. I just don't get it. Seems like a potential accident waiting to happen, and having your dog bouncing around in the front of the car if that should happen seems pretty unwise as well!
