By

When it comes to the garage space of the home, it can quickly become overwhelmed with stuff. This room often becomes the catch-all area, where outdoor items go, holiday decorations and other items you don’t use every day. Learning how to organize your garage properly will ensure that you have a space you can use. Park your vehicle or have an open space for woodworking, whatever you like! Read on to see how you can change your garage with a little organization.

Review Your Items

To begin, you need to look at everything in your garage. Think about how you want the space to be used. If it is for storage, that’s fine, but only keep items in the garage that you are storing. Think about every item you look at. Do you use it? When was the last time you used it? Did you forget you even had it? By asking yourself these questions you can declutter the space and have a garage that is organized and not stressful.

Make Sure Everything Has a Place

In the garage, everything must have its place. Take brooms, ladders, mops and other outdoor equipment. If you keep these items in the garage, consider hanging them on the wall. This will free up floor space and make the garage appear less cluttered. Can you add storage items like shelving or containers to help keep clutter at bay? Think about how you can add storage solutions to the garage to help with the clutter. Consider selecting hardwood plywood for your garage storage needs. This will add extra storage and cabinets for all your construction measuring tools and measuring wheels, along with any decor or outdoor games you need to put away.

Keep It That Way

The best way to keep your garage organized is to not fall prey to putting everything in the garage as a catch-all space. Once you get the garage clean, don’t fill it back up! When you find yourself placing something in the garage, ask yourself if it really goes there. If it can find another home, place it somewhere else so the garage stays neat and tidy!

Insulate And Protect Your Space

The last thing you want in your storage area is any sort of damage from the elements. Ensuring that your insulation is up to date is a great way to protect your garage from overheating or freezing over. Weatherproofing doors and sealing gaps around windows can help protect your garage areas even further. If you have a concrete garage floor with a sealer applied, it's best to give it a good inspection to determine whether or not you need to learn how to remove concrete sealer and replace it with an updated coating.

These are just a few tips you can use to keep your garage space nice and neat. Start today by removing items you no longer need or use and watch as your garage starts to become uncluttered!
