Wahi Pana Exhibit
May 31, 2019 to Jul 5, 2019 - 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM
“The Wahi Pana: A Sense of Place” exhibition showcases artwork informed by the narratives of the wahi pana, found throughout the Hawaiian Islands. Many Hawaiians hold that certain sites are sacred because of the history associated with that particular locale. These events are significant to their identity andsense of belonging to their home.
Hawai‘i has served as a place of inspiration for many artists throughout time. Each artist infuses their own ideas, experiences, and cultural perceptions for a unique creative expression. This exhibition seeks to inspire the view of kānaka maoli, kama‘aina, and malihini alike as they rediscover familiar locales through different eyes.
