When we found our home at 412 Locust Drive, we were immediately drawn to the wood burning fireplace, beautiful hardwood floors, and built-in shelving in the front room.  As we walked through the home, we were attracted to the open concept in the kitchen and back family room, and how it opened out to the backyard.


What we love about our home is being able to make meals while easily engaging with family and friends in the back room and on the newly built deck.  We have really enjoyed sitting around the fire table in the evenings.  


Our utility costs are about what we expected and were used to when living in the City, with the exception of our water bill, which is much lower.  Water is about $30 every three months.  Gas & electric through BGE comes out to about $250 during the coldest time of the year, and $175 during the summer months.  The solar panels from Tesla provide a modest savings through the summer months.


Our neighborhood is full of friendly people, who take great pride in their homes, and has a wonderful mix of younger and older residents.   The sidewalks make it very conducive to walking - both for exercise and for functionality to go to the library, shops, and restaurants.  In the summertime, we walk to the Farmer's Market, Frederick Road Fridays, and the Fourth of July Parade.   Our street is also the absolute BEST for the Fourth of July Fireworks - those living on this block can  truly sit in their front yard and enjoy the show.  Our home is very close to the Catonsville YMCA, and we often go there to exercise and for family events.  

Some of the things we love about Catonsville are how it has a small town feel while being only 15 minutes from downtown Baltimore and a little over 30 to DC.  We love that the Patapsco State Park is less than 2 miles away, and we often go there to hike, play, picnic, and even camp.  We love the Fourth of July and how much it brings the community together for games at the highschool, the parade, and the fireworks.   In the summer, there are concerts and farmer's markets.   On Thanksgiving, you can walk or drive to the highschool to participate in the Turkey Trot.  In the winter, Santa can be seen in his small house by the fire station and even rides by our street on a firetruck to wave and pass out candy to the children.  


Some of our favorite restaurants in the area are Farmhouse Greens, Franco's, Catonsville Gourmet, and State Fare.    We also love walking to Atwaters on the weekends for coffee.  


The grocery store we typically use is Trader Joe's, which is less than 15 minutes away.  We love going to Rooster and Hen for fresh produce and unique treats.  We also love going to Atwaters and The Breadery for fresh bread and other goodies.  There is a new market opening up the street in the fall also.  We are also in an Amazon Fresh delivery area and have utilized this, as well.


We moved to Baltimore County for the schools, the easy commute into the city, and to have our own backward space for our children to play in.  Catonsville Elementary School is brand new, and the Catonsville Public Library is a short walk away.
