Why Professional Photos of your Home Matters

Why Professional Photos of your Home Matters.

So, it's time to list your home but you're not sure where to start? The first thing you should do when choosing a listing agent to represent your home is to take a good look at the type of marketing they offer.

Some real estate professionals will literally take pictures of your home with their cell phones. Although cell phone cameras are way more technologically advanced than they used to be, they should never be used to take marketing photos of your home.

Yes, those are actual photos of an active listing in MLS. Dark, blurry and just plain terrible. How would anyone know what your home really looks like? Will they even want to see it in person? Is that a risk you should take? No.

When looking around for a listing agent in your area, you will want to choose someone that is going to show your home in its very best light. That means professional photos and marketing every time. No excuses. The photos below were snapshots of one of my listings and I think it illustrates perfectly why professional photos of your home matters. Do you get the picture? There honestly is no substitute for professional photography to truly capture a home and property well.

This is excellent advice to share with home sellers and their listing agents.

Good morning Jeff. I am a good photographer but a professional knows how to shoot the time in its best light.

Hi Jeff Stevens - I am lucky, I married one.  It sets us apart because many agents are waiting in line for a pro to take their pics.  My husband has no conflict of interest because he only works for me! I tell clients we will change out the photos as necessary, take morning or evening shoots at no additional charge.

Completely agree with you Jeff. I've been using a pro for years and get compliments on my photos all the time. Tried doing it myself early on and it was a disaster.

Absolutely! As they say, time is money and that time we spent tweaking/photo-shopping was non-productive time, for sure!

Happy Wednesday!

Hi Jeff- there is no excuse for the photos I see on the MLS that are due to poor photography. If you are selling your house and your agent says they will take the photos for your home, be sure to take a look at their other listing photos.

The photos in this post are a testament to the difference professional photos can make.  This is especially true in an era where internet marketing is so important.
