Jeune et Jolie
A New Favorite Restaurant in Carlsbad Village
UPDATE: Jeune et Jolie received a coveted Michelin Star in 2021
Carlsbad has added a number of restaurants in the last couple of years. I have yet to try them all, but my dining experience last night at Jeune et Jolie that opened this past December could become a new favorite.
Jeune et Jolie, billed as a “modern French Bistro,” was created by the owners of Campfire, a popular eatery right down the street, also in the hip and artsy North State area, that opened in 2016.
It’s worth noting that Campfire has been quite successful and just received a “Bib Gourmand” rating from Michelin along with 7 other San Diego restaurants – not quite the star category but a rating reserved for special restaurants offering “high-quality meals with 2 courses and a glass of wine or dessert for $40 or less.”
I’ve been to Campfire a couple times for lunch and once for dining and it was quite good, with some rather unique and creative offerings. Campfire is well worth a visit if you haven’t been.
Will Jeune et Jolie be similarly awarded, or perhaps receive that coveted Michelin star rating? Maybe!
I was certainly very impressed with the food, the prices, excellent service, and charming ambiance, all of which makes me want to return soon and try other food. Last night they offered a prix fixe dinner (L’Ordinaire) with 2 courses plus dessert for $35 (wine pairing of 3 wines was only $15). It was superb and was plenty of food!

You can, of course, simply order off the main menu or go for the Chef’s Tasting.
I always enjoy discovering new restaurants and sharing them, or learning about great eateries from clients and friends, in and around Carlsbad. We are not San Francisco or LA as far as restaurants go, but things continue to improve in our dining scene. And being a bit of a foodie, well, that’s just fine with me.
I certainly look forward to a return dining experience at Jeune et Jolie!
