Banc of California Stadium is one of the newest open-air stadiums in Los Angeles. It was just opened on April 18,2018. Many people do not know this, but it was the first Open Air Stadium built since 1962. If you are wondering where is this Stadium? It is on the former Los Angeles Memorial Sports Arena’s location. It is directly next to the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum and just south of the main campus of the University of California more affectionately known as USC.

Currently the Los Angeles FC subleases the site from the university which has the master lease for operating and managing the Coliseum and Stadium Properties.

In case you did not know it, Los Angeles will be hosting the 2028 Summer Olympics and what is so special about this new Stadium is, that it will be part of the Downtown Sports Park and will be hosting some of the Track and Field events and   for both men and women’s soccer events. Hence if you watch the Summer Olympics this will be the place where the events will be taking place.

Now if you do not want to wait that long the inaugural Premier Lacrosse League’s All- Star Game will be held here on July 21sth 2019 i.e.:  very soon😊

If you are wondering where Banc of California Stadium is located, well with that said: it is located at 3939 South Figueroa Street Downtown Los Angeles aka DTLA and the southern border is Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd.

If you were wondering what it cost to build and what the capacity is, well it cost $350 million to build and seating capacity is 22,000.

Your title certainly caught my attention, Endre. I was a VP at the Bank (with a k) of California in the mid-1970's in San Francisco. At that time we were the only bank in the nation that was chartered to operate in more than one state as it was one of the oldest banks in the West. Sadly, it is no more.

Hi Endre Barath, Jr. - This is the first I am hearing about this.  This will be a good size for many events in the downtown area.

I had no idea, and we hope the 2028 Olympics will be handled as well as the 1984 Olympics were  A  I also heard that the sponsor could not put their name of the Memorial part, which is a good idea.  A

I have a feeling you and Diane will be finding your way back to Boston for a visit in 2028 (during the Olympics)!

We have USC (University of South Carolina) here on the East Coast - the two are often confused, especially during sporting events! LOL
