It is now the weekend once more. Monday to Friday has passed by again and here come the two days where you have all the time for yourself. Away from work, apart from specific responsibilities, Saturday and Sunday are indeed the best parts of the week for most of us. While some may spend these two lovely days drinking tons of alcohol, overstuffing themselves with food, and going unhealthy, others may take this time off as a way to further improve in terms of their health.
Let us face it; we have already associated unhealthy activities with the weekends. Our Saturday and Sunday ritual may always not be the healthiest of choices. Often we may have a decently healthy Monday through Friday afternoon, but then Friday evening, Saturday and Sunday come along, all the healthy habits and fitness regimen we are currently on quickly jumps out of the window. After all, it is tough not to spoil yourself when you have all the time to do so, but that does not mean that we cannot break that mold. What if I tell you that you can still have a fun and enjoyable weekend while still keeping it healthy as can be? Here are three tips on how you can have a healthy weekend:
- Avoid Late Night Eating
The weekend is where you get to sleep whenever you want without the worry of having to wake up early morning the night after. And there is nothing wrong with that as long as you may still have plenty of rest and to completely replenish your energy. What is wrong is if you eat super late at night or even after midnight and then going to sleep shortly afterward. That habit will do you more harm than good. Resist the urge of stuffing yourself down with food late night; it will do nothing but pack hundreds, maybe even thousands of calories into your body. Unfortunately, you won't have a chance to burn off any of those calories since you're about to go to sleep. Instead, they will end up finding a comfortable place to stay on your body in the form of fat.
- Still Drink Plenty of Water
Well, I do hope you have been drinking water throughout the weekdays but just because Saturday and Sunday are here do not mean that you should completely forget about it. Instead of drinking down soda, energy drinks, juice, and cans of beer, why not just stick to the usual water? Not only will it help you stay healthy, but it is also the cheapest among the given examples and the most accessible. Stick with as much water as possible and not only will you be putting 0 additional calories into your body, but you will be giving your body an additional health benefit too.
- Still Be Mindful On The Amount Of Food You Eat
It is as common as the sunrise to see people eat tons and tons of food on the weekends. It is the time where they get to spend as much as they want and where they feel most free, unlike when on weekdays. Before it is too late, discipline yourself to not overindulge on your coming weekends. Still, be mindful on the amount of food you are eating, watch that portion size you are getting. Alternatively, you may use your lovely free time on these two days to come up with a healthy meal for you and your family. The bottom line is, keep a careful watch on the amount of food you eat.
