Well, we made it to day seven of Carole King week. We have already showcased some of the songs that made other artists famous. So it is only fitting that we include one of Carole’s performances. In addition to her songwriting ability, Carole King demonstrated a knack for performing as well, becoming one of the world’s most recognizable voices.
Her 1971 album Tapestry cemented Carole in our minds as a performer. The album won four Grammy Awards and has been inducted into the Grammy Hall Of Fame.
Yesterday we had the pleasure to see a snippet from the Kennedy Center Honors were she was honored for her lifetime contribution to American culture through the performing arts. And in 2014 Beautiful: The Carole King Musical opened on Broadway. Winning both a GRAMMY® for Best Musical Theater Album and two Tony awards.
Today’s song is one we all know So Far Away. The video is from that same recording session in 1971 that we saw earlier. Yes, that is James Taylor accompanying Carole.
