Motivational Mondays - Peaceful Conflict Resolution
You know, we all work with the kind of business man/woman who ALWAYS has to be right, ALWAYS has to get their way and most often they are the ones that seem, well, simply miserable in life! They 'put the hammer down' and refuse to budge - there is no flexibility whatsoever. Yes, in my business, these are the agents that we hate to see coming with a buyer or agents who may have a listing that we know is the perfect home for our buyers!
What do we do to maintain the peace? Well, for me, I call it my 'Southern Secret' - and suffice it to say, I am proficient at disarming these types! While I don't always welcome the challenge, I manage my transactions so that my clients are not impacted by the other side (including their agent). My clients are always excited to meet their buyers & sellers - whichever it may be, on the other side - at Closing. They don't have a clue what I have protected them from! As well, when this type of agents are on the other side, THEIR clients will often reach out to me; I think people are drawn to peacefulness, not discord - at least I'm that way.
While I'm confident Ronald Reagan was not referring to business at all in his quote above, it totally applies to our business. Diffusing situations is at the helm of what we do on a daily basis. In my humble opinion, peaceful conflict resolution trumps the alternative - any day of the week!
