What Do You Want Most?

This is a post that should be, and hopefully will be, featured. The quotes by Dale Maxwell and Jim Rohn shared by Carol Williams should be posted on every bulletin board, and her insightful comments taken to heart.

Original content by Carol Williams

"Never give up what you want most for what you want in the moment."
- Neal A. Maxwell

I've been distracted lately and haven't written any blog posts for nearly 6 or 7 weeks, with the exception of my Second Chance Saturday series.  The quote above struck me as I read it yesterday, and I thought it would be a good way to jumpstart me back into a blog post.

I've been trying to lose 5 pounds for about a year now. The truth is, I should probably lose 10, but that's not the point of this post.

5 pounds doesn't seem like such a hard task, does it?  Yet, I still haven't lost them. When I think about it, I get quite annoyed with myself.  It's just not that big of a deal to lose 5 pounds, so why hasn't it happened?

The answer is in the quote above.  I have been exchanging what I want most for what I want at the moment.  It's all about the willpower to make the right choices to get me where I want to be, not what I want right now.  I need to make a few different eating choices and get a little more exercise.

This whole subject reminds me of a quote by the late Jim Rohn.
"We must all suffer one of two things: The pain of discipline or the pain of regret."

I need to start suffering from more discipline so I can stop regretting not reaching my ultimate goal.

The decisions we make today will determine our future.  The question is, are we willing to suffer the pain of discipline to avoid the pain of regret?

This is a reality in all parts of life, personal and professional.  What do you want most? Are you willing to suffer the pain of discipline to get it?

"The best way to predict the future is to create it!"
- Peter Drucker

Hello Grant Schneider - we all (well, most of us anyway) get lazy and let complacency creep into our lives. Carol's post is a jolt of reality for us to get back on track.
