Where to Dine with Winnie the Pooh in Disney World

By
Education & Training with Three Kids, Three Cats, and a Husband

When people talk about character dining at Disney World, they usually talk about where to meet Mickey Mouse or their favorite princesses.

However, there is a group of characters that are sometimes forgotten who I personally love, and they are the gang from The Hudred Acre Woods -- Winnie the Pooh and his friends.

There are two place where you can have a meal and do a photo opp with these folks. The first one is at a park and the second is at a resort.

1. The Crystal Palace

The Crystal Palace is located on Main Street U.S.A. in the Magic Kingdom. They are the only all-Pooh-all-the-time restaurant. For breakast, lunch, or dinner, you can enjoy a buffet with Pooh, Piglet, Tigger, and Eeyore.

The food here is basic, not bad, but not amazing. Breakfast includes a made-to-order omelet station, which I really liked, plus your usual breakfast staples like bacon, sausage, cereal, and pastries. The potato casserole and "Pooh's Breakfast Lasagna" (with layers of pound cake, pancakes and waffles) are both very popular.

Dinner has several meats and fish, tomato basil soup, and assortments of rolls, salads, vegetables, and desserts.

One nice perk about the Crystal Palace is that they open an hour before the park does, so if you're lucky enough to get an early reservation (keep trying!) you can enter the park before it officially opens, get some good photos, and enjoy breakfast in time for rope drop.

2. 1900 Park Fare

I haven't been to 1900 Park Fare yet, but will be going for dinner on our next trip. It's located in the Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, and even though it takes longer, I like to hop on the monorail, leave the park, and enjoy a more relaxing meal in a resort.

1900 Park Fare is a little different than some other character meals in that:

1) There is a totally different cast of characters at breakfast than at dinner;

2) The characters don't all fit the same "theme."

At breakfast, you'll meet Winnie the Pooh, Alice in Wonderland, the Mad Hatter (who I've heard is one of the most entertaining Disney characters to meet), and Mary Poppins. I'm not sure how they came up with that group, but ... okay. They are all British, I guess.

At dinner, you'll meet Cinderella and Prince Charming, but also (and this sounds like the best part) Lady Tremaine, Anastasia, and Drizella, Cinderella's evil stepmother and stepsisters. I have heard they are very fun.

I've heard the food quality and choices are similar to the Crystal Palace with one exception: the strawberry soup, which people rave about.

I'm looking foward to our trip here in November. Trying new Disney restaurants is always fun, and I'll have to come up with clever things to say to those evil stepsisters!
