St Barts is my top choice when it comes to a perfect Caribbean Destination. Imagine St Tropez but in the Caribbean combined with chic French flair and incredibly stunning scenery, picture-perfect beaches, high-end designer shopping and some of the most affluent visitors in the world – welcome to St Bart's. This tropical island has lots to offer and here are some of the best ways to spend a weekend in St Barts.
Flying by private plane ore one of the tiny planes leaving from St Maarten or San Juan, you will touch down in Gustaf airport, which is the second shortest runway in the world. You will be in the heart of the island at this point and will have seen the entire island from the skies while landing in paradise overlooking St Jean Beach. Some might say you have accomplished a lot by the morning after that thrill-seeking flight!
Your greeter will meet you at the airport and will escort you to your villa or hotel to check in. It is also possible to drive yourself. We would suggest hiring a car as there is so much to explore on the island.
On the first day, we would suggest lunch at Pearl Beach in St Jean. Pearl Beach is one of the nicest restaurants and has a laid-back vibe while being right on the beach. The food is delicious, and there is a great boutique which organises a daily fashion show. It is so relaxed; many guests will take a swim in the middle of lunch.
I would recommend an afternoon at the beach relaxing or enjoying some water sports. If you fancy a walkabout, there are some cute shops to browse in St Jean, or if you fancy cocktails, we recommend heading to the Eden Rock Hotel.
I always love to head to Gustavia by night and soak up the atmosphere; I would recommend you dine in either L'Isola or Bonito, depending on what you feel like If you are craving Italian, then we highly recommend L’Isola for a wonderful experience in the heart of Gustavia. Bonita is a fine dining chic restaurant with lovely views and has great cocktails and fabulous food. Other great options in Gustavia are Black Ginger, Bagatelle, Eddy’s and Orega.
One of the nicest ways to explore St Barts is by boat, our concierge at Exceptional Villas can arrange a catamaran day sail trip for you while you relax on board a luxury yacht or catamaran. You can enjoy snorkelling and swimming.
Lunch can be enjoyed onboard while you relax and enjoy the Caribbean Sunshine, or if you don’t want lunch on the boat, I would recommend Maya’s to-go. Here you can get a lovely picnic to go and enjoy it at one of the beaches such as Colombier.
Why not enjoy a spa treatment at your hotel or your private villa. If you feel like some exercise (which you may not after being on the water all morning), then we would highly recommend taking a hike on the Colombier trail which leads you to the secluded beach where you can enjoy a relaxing afternoon dip.
You cannot go to St Barts without a visit to the ever popular Le Ti in Pointe Milou. The food is lovely, I recommend the beef, but once you have enjoyed dinner, the night-time show begins, and it is so much fun. All diners dress up and party till late.
After your morning swim in your private pool, we recommend a visit to Gustavia where you can visit all of the designer boutiques and shops. Many of the international brands are here, including Dior, Louis Vuitton, Dolce et Gabbana and Hermes. There is also a great selection of small boutiques which are full of treasures. The streets here are really pretty, and there are lots of lovely cafes to choose from too if you feel like stopping for a coffee and snack.
The best place to go on a Sunday is Nikki Beach, especially if you like to party. It has an electric atmosphere and can be a bit wild at times. It’s a must plact to visit for anyone who likes a bit of fun. There is music, dancing, a fashion show and a great place to people watch.
If you don’t feel like just chilling at Nikki Beach after your lunch, then I would recommend you spend the afternoon at one of the islands other best beaches either Saline or Gouverneur more.
You may have to depart the island by now, but if you do get the chance to spend one, then we have some ideas for dinner.
If you fancy Thai food, then I highly recommend Black Ginger in Gustavia. Another firm favourite is L’Esprit or Tamarin.
No matter what time of the year you visit St Barts you will enjoy it. The island is stunningly beautiful and is so unique that you have to visit it at least once in your lifetime!
