Red, White and BOOM 4th of July
Fireworks & More in Carlsbad 2019
Our 4th of July holiday is around the corner now that summer is here, with plenty of celebrations and fireworks in and around Carlsbad, along with private festivities, cookouts and picnics. There will be crowds at the beach and lots of friends and family gatherings.
It may feel a little odd with the 4th on a Thursday…but think of that long weekend!
Now that schools are out the summer crowds are picking up, and public parking at the beaches, and in town, will be harder to find, especially on the holiday and during that week. Here are our popular Carlsbad 4th of July fireworks events:
Red, White and BOOM – this is the annual celebration with fireworks at Legoland California in Carlsbad on July 4th with fun for all ages.
Come enjoy numerous rides, live performances, and other attractions, plus picnic-style games (water balloon toss, burlap sack races, a Family Lego Build Challenge). And you’ll want to come dressed up in red, white and blue for the costume parade.
The Legoland fireworks can be seen for miles and are popular with residents living nearby. Red, White and BOOM starts 1 pm and runs until 9 pm, and the Legoland fireworks accompanied by patriotic music begin at 8:30 PM. All festivities for Red, White and Boom are included in your admission price.
Fireworks at the Omni La Costa Resort – the fireworks at the famed Omni La Costa Resort and Spa in South Carlsbad (La Costa) are some of my favorite, especially when I lived in the area and could walk to the Resort, and have been popular with guests and area residents for years.
The Omni La Costa Resort offers all sorts of events from July 3rd through the 9th and on the big day, and you can expect plenty of people around. The fireworks take place Thursday night, July 4th over the golf course, and are typically visible from all over South Carlsbad and north Encinitas depending on the marine layer!
Fireworks at the Park Hyatt Aviara Resort - Another Carlsbad favorite are the 4th of July festivities at the Park Hyatt Aviara Resort in the Aviara area in South Carlsbad, just west of La Costa.
The fun includes a huge dinner buffet from 5 until 9:30 in the Palm Courtyard with live music, plus their popular poolside fireworks starting at 9 pm (beverages will be available for purchase). Call (760) 603-3773 for more information and reservations.
And depending on where you are, you can see fireworks from both Aviara and La Costa!
Fireworks Viewing and BBQ Dinner at 20/Twenty Grill at the Westin Resort Carlsbad – the Westin is very close to Legoland, and you can enjoy a wonderful BBQ dinner (they offer a special kids menu) AND watch the fireworks, too. Reservations can be made from 6 until 10 pm, with tickets $65 for adults and $30 for children. The Westin is at 5480 Grand Pacific Drive off Cannon Road, adjacent to the Sheraton Resort.
And there's more to do, too.
Here’s a list of some other popular July 4th events in the greater San Diego area. Note that some are not on the actual holiday, including fireworks. You certainly can’t complain that there is nothing to do on or around this popular holiday in Carlsbad or San Diego County!
