What is tax levies?
The Treasury Department has a reputation for being serious about collecting taxes, they have empowered the IRS with an arsenal of weapons to capture taxes from taxpayers who owe. The IRS tools of choice are tax liens and tax levies.
Fortunately, our clients who act early frequently avoid the pain associated with IRS tax levies. It may be possible to delay tax levies long enough to contact the IRS with alternative arrangements. It might even be possible to avoid the tax levies altogether.
I'm Patrick LeClaire owner of New Life Tax Resolution. We are your tax levies specialists.
Here are a few options to consider:
Request Non-Collectible Status:
When you don’t have the money to pay back taxes; or tax levies would create severe financial hardship, you can request to be placed in what the IRS calls “non-collectible status.”
Did the IRS make a mistake? Request a Collections Due Process Hearing:
If you can show that you did not receive notice of any tax levies, or that some other error occurred in processing your account, you can request a Collections Due Process Hearing. The tax levies could be removed at this time.
Show that the Statute of Limitations has expired:
The IRS has a limited amount of time to collect an outstanding tax.and tax levies. If you can prove the statute of limitations has expired, the full tax amount can be removed from the IRS books and tax levies are removed. Do not attempt this alone.
If you find yourself at risk of tax levies, tax lien or have unfiled back taxes you should pay attention to the trouble that may be just over the horizon.
If you or someone you know has received a letter from the IRS about impending tax levies or some other federal or state tax issue, please feel free to contact me at either (407) 287-6638 or by email @ firstname.lastname@example.org.
