Go Float The Boise River

Floating the Boise River is a very popular activity in the city and it's a great way to enjoy the Green Belt,as well. Plus, it is a perfect way for the kids to use up some energy and cool down when the sun gets too hot in the summer, as it usually does. Paddling on rivers has always been a true American experience since the days of exploration, but there aren’t many places where you can experience this with all of the amenities, comfort and conveniences of the city - and that’s why floating on the Boise River makes the list of Boyle's Boise: 52 Things To Do and See.

The Barber to Ann Morrison Park float is so simple that even a child could do it, and indeed as many as 100,000 people including many teenagers, float the river each year. When Michael and I used to live in Eagle, we loved floating the Boise River and would start in downtown Boise by BSU, leave one car there and float all the way down the Boise River up to the back porch of our house in Island Woods. Then we would jump in our second car and go grab the car we parked down by BSU. It was so convenient, easy and relaxing.

The Boise River itself is a tributary of the Snake River, approximately 75 miles long, and drains part of the Sawtooth Range northeast of Boise as well as much mixed land.  During the summer it becomes a gentle ride through downtown Boise going through the greenbelt recreation area and passing many of the city's great parks for which it is well known.
