Schools out and Wizards Unite

By

We do a lot of driving in our business, and please let this serve as your reminder to be wary of kids on bikes. As if that weren't enough of a challenge to drivers, there's a new hazard this summer - Wizards Unite.

This Harry Potter themed game is different from regular video games or games played on your phone - it requires players to go out "into the wild" and visit augmented reality locations to score points and fill energy.

It's very much like the Pokemon Go craze of a few years ago, and augmented reality greenhouses, fortresses, and inns can be found in parks, churches, historical locations, police stations, and statues.

Because the game tracks distance walked, players will be immersed in their games while walking, presenting a unique danger that drivers need to be aware of.

That is a new one for me.  I do remember the Pokemon Go though, so definitely need to be on the lookout for bikers and walkers.  Thanks for sharing!

Good morning Wayne and Jean Marie Zuhl - the players need to remain safe just as people who are engrossed in texting.  Thanks for the heads up to drivers.

Hello Jean Marie and Wayne - this is "new" to me as well and before you mentioned Pokemon Go that thought was entering my mind.  It's best to be and stay alert.  Awareness matters too.

Wayne and Jean,

I had no idea, but then we are not into any apps whatsoever.  And I have seen accidents waiting to happen when people cross the street and look at their phones.  A

OMG! I haven't heard about this but it sounds very scary. I wish games and apps like this could be banned by the FBI, Secret Service, or somebody else. Of course, I'm not a supporter in overreach but in this case, I would make an exception.

Sounds like the government heard your plea and are trying to ban WeChat and TikTok.

I  love technology and where it is heading.  Instead of playing games on my phone, I play with data.  I became a volunteer Local Guide for Google Maps and have fun uploading photos, business hours and data.  I am currently a Level 8 guide and my photos currently have  18,427,866 views.
