Door County's 2019 July 4th Celebrations,
plus Sister Bay's Freedom Fest
Door County, Wisconsin--that summer paradise in northeastern Wisconsin you know and love-- promises several days of food, music, fireworks, craft fairs, parades, beverages and much, much more as we gear up for our annual July 4th celebrations for 2019.
Egg Harbor will get the party started with its fireworks on July 3rd, followed by it's July 4th parade in the center of town, beginning at 1:30 p.m. on Independence Day.
With clear skies, nature will put on its own display show
over the next few weeks, too. Egg Harbor Sunset.
Not to be outdone, Baileys Harbor will delight and entertain you all day with its cool Lake Michigan breezes on the 4th. The 10 a.m. parade (one of Door County's largest) will segue into an entire day of food, music, arts & crafts, swimming, events for the entire family as you'll see old friends and make new ones. The day will culminate with fireworks at dusk over Lake Michigan. Come early--parking fills up quickly.
With warm weather expected on the 4th, Baileys Harbor's
public beach at Anclam Park will be a popular place for families to gather and cool off with a dip in the Lake.
Sturgeon Bay will also host fireworks over the water on the 4th. The fun will start at 5 p.m. at Sunset Park off of 3rd Avenue near downtown Sturgeon Bay, with an ice cream social, food, music and fun. The evening will be topped off with fireworks over the waterfront. Fun for all ages.
Gills Rock, Door County's commercial fishing community, also gets into the fun with an old-fashioned Boat Regatta, followed by fireworks over the Bay. Food and beverages will be served in Gills Rock from 5 p.m. on, with the Regatta starting at 7:30 and fireworks at dusk. Bring a blanket or a lawn chair to enjoy live music and the fireworks.
Finally, Sister Bay will host Freedom Fest, it's own tribute to liberty, on Saturday, July 13, 2019, with fireworks in the Sister Bay Harbor outside of the Sister Bay Marina. Bring a lawn chair and come early--this is a great event to bring your boat, tie up with friends and enjoy a spectacular fireworks display.
Door County promises much merriment, music, food, fun and fireworks over the next two weeks. We realize freedom isn't free, and thank those that have paid the ultimate price for us to enjoy the freedom we take for granted. Use this Independence Day in Door County (and everywhere else) to fly a flag, join in the national anthem or thank someone that has served.
