Tips To Keeping Your Pets Safe During The July 4th Fireworks

You might enjoy the Red, White & Boom of July 4th celebration fireworks. But your pets DO NOT! Did you know more pets get lost on July 4th than any other day of the year? Dogs (and cats) are frightened by fireworks, explosions and loud noises and try to run away to safety. Many then can't seem to find their way home. So keep it a "pet-friendly" holiday and just in case one of your four-legged family members does run away, make sure they all have easy to spot identification on them. Follow the firworks safety tips in the infographic below and you're sure to have a fun holiday enjoying the fireworks and stress-free pets.

Petfinder.com offers  great (and easy) tips on keeping your dogs and cats safe during the July 4th celebrations. Your fur-babies will pawsitively appreciate your taking a little bit of extra time to make sure they are safe and secure and away from as much noise as possible. And how happy will you be not to lose any loved pets?

So have fun celebrating Independence Day, but don't forget about your four-legged companions and about keeping your pets safe during the July 4th holiday festivities. Don't let carelessness ruin your July 4th holiday with a lost pet.

Nina if I owned a pet I would keep them home, but I was surprised how many dog owners brought their dogs to our fireworks this past Saturday.

George Souto hi George... it really boggles the mind. Our dogs and cats would go crazy inside the house if they heard fireworks in the neighborhood.

Will Hamm hi Will... I've never had a dog that liked the sound of fireworks. Ours would cower and try to hide, as well.

Hi Nina - a good reminder for pet owners. My dogs never liked fireworks (or thunder). My last dog would try climbing into whatever chair I was sitting in, shivering the whole time.

Endre Barath, Jr. thanks, Endre. Amazingly enough, my Mr. Marlow was very calm last night when the fireworks began. Probably the first cat I ever had who was so cool about it.

Nina, although Mia is aging, her hearing is better than ever.  Between the lightning and fireworks, it did not take long for her to race downstairs.
