It May be Easier Than You Think!

I've been having a couple really blonde days, but it has ended well. A few days ago, our neighborhood experienced a few short power interruptions. Since then, my sprinkler system has been on the fritz. When I looked at the little control box, and punched the buttons they wouldn't operate the system as they should. I spent time considering who I should call to fix or replace it...Then about an hour ago I thought, What if you change the battery, Blondie? And, voila, everything is copacetic once again! It's amazing what a gal can accomplish with a 9 v battery!

Nina Hollander - I have always known that many problems around my house can be healed with WD40, Duct Tape, and Bungie Cords. . .However, I have now added Fresh Batteries to my tool box arsenal!

Michael Jacobs - When I considered the time I spent pondering over that issue, I shake my head!  I think there was far too much going on over the 4th of July holiday for me to ponder as efficiently as I should have.

Hi Myrl... I've always got a supply of batteries and WD40 at home. Duct tape and bungie cords, not so much! Maybe I should lay in a supply.

Ron and Alexandra Seigel - I can't get over the amount of mental energy I spent on this issue. And, why the battery wasn't one of the first things that came to mind!  I guess I was fixated on the power interruptions and had a preconceived idea that those outtages had fried the control panel.  That had happened to me a couple years ago, when a power surge took out a washing machine, a refrigerator, the control panel to my HVAC, and a microwave.

Hmmmm!  9-volt batteries do work for many things. Glad you figured it out. My husband had a similar moment about 3 days ago. It was the battery for his weather station.  He checked all the website stuff, downloaded new files and still couldn't get it to broadcast on the internet. Duh? Did you check the battery?  He was really embarrassed about this.  So don't feel so blond about this!! LOL!

Myrl- join the club because most of have had those moments!!! Many years ago we bought a countertop microwave. Plugged it in and it wouldn't work. After a trip back to the store to exchange it, it still didn't work. Then...duh...there was some kind of tab you had to pull the first time for it to work.

Myrl, I am often terrified when I see the sprinklers doing funny things - it always seems to me that there may be digging, looking for a broken line, mess. Precise diagnosis of the problem is great. I am glad it was an easy and clean solution.

Myrl Jeffcoat - I'm impressed! I had the identical problem with my sprinkler system after a 24+ hour power outage too a few weeks ago. I tried everything and then changed the battery but it still wouldn't work. I ended up calling the Sprinkler guy. The funny thing is, his first words to me, did this happen after a power outage? When I said yes, he pressed some buttons and told me I needed to replace the control at a cost of $268.00.
