As many of you know, my friend and I bought a new blog in May. It's called Healthy Savvy & Wise.
This new blog allows us to blog about blogging and personal finance/frugal living tips. This is kind of like our side hobby.
We bought this from a friend as she wanted to sell her blog so she can work on website development and have a more steady income. We were thrilled to have a good solid blog that already had a foundation and a domain that aged 18 months (so that we would have more credibility with google). And, we liked the name.
The previous owner was earning around $300 in revenue a month (prob more like $250 in net profit per month.
May was a transition month as we did a lot of transfer work (including tranferring affiliate links). It took much more time than we expected and remember this is kind of side hobby for us. It happened gradually and as we did that and took our eyes off of the traffic (as were preoccupied w/ other things).
We got the traffic back on track and end May with revenue of $357 and we were pleased with this result given that the links weren't in place the whole month and all the other distractions.
June looked even better at $608 Sweet.
Now we also invested a bunch in this blog (not a ton) as our theme crashed in June (lovely), bought 2 subscritions of photos, paid 2 of my VAs for some work, bought a plugin or two, renewed the website, so we only netted $380 between the 2 months.
But, we are happy with those results and know that some of those costs are not ongoing.
Here are some of the articles we wrote this month:
- How I made $22,288 on my blog in MayThis shares my journey in how I turned things around and turned my blog into a money making machine. I share how I'm earning money as well as my costs.
- How to make money with Rakuten (formerly known as Ebates)Can't believe I didn't know about this neat little shopping trick to save money when you're shopping at Amazon and other stores I often go to. Check it out.
Yes, it's true, for the last 3 months or so, Amazon has become my best friend and I earn a nice chunk of money. I would so love to maybe turn that into $10,000/month. I share all my tips on how to do this.
If you want to earn money from blogging, it really helps if you take some course to accelerate your progress (trust me on this). But, as a new blogger, you often can't spend that much at the beginning. These free courses will get you on your way.
My friend and I will continue to grow this blog, but it will take time. Our goal was to try to get up to $500/month profit pretty quickly, ideally by September or so. Now that we are investing in some things our base costs will probably be around $200/month (or a bit less), so that means we are shooting for $700 in revenue by end of September. We'll see if that's doable.
I really think we'll start to reap the rewards on this next year. It's hard to juggle everything as I know investing time in my own blog will have a higher return in the short run. But hopefully this will work.
I will periodically update you guys, if you would like to follow with me on this journey.
