Tips to List, Sizzle & Sell
Lights - Your home is the showroom! Keep it bright! Keep it Clean!
Cleaning - Hire a professional Cleaning Company to do a deep clean. If you must clean yourself, use vinegar and water following the correct instructions.
Sizzle Safely! - Make sure electrical wires are not a hazard. If you're having a problem with electricity, please contact an Electrician to make repairs.
Kitchen Appliances - Follow manufacturer cleaning instructions. Newer products may require different product than Grandma used years ago.
Plants - Remove all dead leaves and wilted plants inside and outside. Fresh new mulch makes a big difference.
Ceiling fans - Clean fan blades and change light bulbs.
Potpourri and Candles - Is a no, no.
Clean Window, Screens, Sills & Window Treatments - Light catches everything and buyers notice everything too.
Clean Wall Plates, Ceilings, and Baseboards - The buyer's eyes are upon them.
Stains - Repair all leaks and remove stains or disclose! Disclose! Disclose!
Mirrors - Where there is a mirror there is a face. Keep mirrors clean.
Cats - If your cat loves catnip, give it a catnip treat to keep it rested and less stressed. Make sure the litter box is always clean. When in doubt, consult with your Vet. Vet's & cat owners know best.
Taming of the Dog - No matter how well behaved, dogs are protectors. How they behave when owners are present are not the same when strangers come inside. Safely remove or kennel during showings. Make sure pet bowls are clean and/or out of sight.
Bathrooms - Although sellers would hope nobody actually uses their bathrooms, it happens. Bathrooms ARE real property and come with the house. Remove all medications, any waste in wastepaper baskets, clean toilet, shower, tub, sink, mirrors, vanity tops, and if under the sink is cluttered, please declutter. "Nobody knows what goes on behind closed doors." --- Charlie Rich
Floors - Laminate and water don't mix. Make sure all floors are cleaned using manufacturer instructions.
Soap - Remove any soap scum on sinks, tubs, and shower doors.
Closets - When closets are stuffed, clothes can't breathe. It may be psychological, but neither do buyers.
Weather is a factor - On hot summer days, cooler houses are more comfortable. On colder days in winter, warmer houses are more comfortable. When it's rainy, have doormats and if plastic shoe covers are needed, if possible, have them available. Our brains react to the weather.
