Monday Inspiration: The Gift of Understanding

Services for Real Estate Pros with Napa Consultants DRE00893924

Understanding means throwing away your knowledge.

Thich Nhat Hanh

There have been countless of discussions about listening to our clients in real estate and other professions.  Listening is a valuable skill, however, listening without judgment is the ultimate skill in our opinion.

Understanding does not mean agreeing with another person's point of view by any means.  It is about hearing what that person's point of view without passing it through your own filters of opinion.  It takes practice to do that.  This leads us to realize how biased we all are by virtue of our experiences and education.

Listening without judgment opens the door for the truth to manifest, which creates understanding. We both realize this on a daily basis as we practice mindfulness in listening and in our actions.  And we often, think of Rumi's quote...

Out beyond ideas of wrong doing

and right doing there is a field.

I’ll meet you there.

The gift of understanding is not just for others, it is also one you can give yourself.  We promise it will open up doors in your life and in your heart!

Wishing you a great week ahead!

ABOUT:  Luxury Real Estate is a high stakes game. Commissions are substantial! We help luxury real estate professionals get to the listing table more often and win listings more frequently.  If you want to be the market leader, the personal or company brand that your target market thinks of first and refers most often, you need an Elevator Statement to accelerate the process.  We can get you there!

Your Elevator Statement is a succinct and persuasive summary of your extraordinary promise of value, your unique selling proposition.  In a time-starved world the attention span of your target market is shrinking.  To instantly convey what sets you apart from the crowd you need to be able to answer EACH ONE of these 3 questions in less than 30 seconds.: 1) What Do You Do?; 2)  How Do You Do It?, and;  3) How Are You Different?.  Can you state how you are different and better than your competition in less than 30 seconds?

Watch the video above to see and hear how we do it.

So very true.  Listening without working to form your response before someone is finished speaking is commonplace.  The art of true listening is challenging.  Thanks for this great reminder to be more mindful.  That's hard to do in sales when it's so easy to be focused on our next response!

Hi Ron and Alexandra- Understanding is a remarkable gift to give others and to ourselves. If we can learn to walk in someone's shoes, not necessarily the same path, we can eliminate judgment and move to understanding and acceptance.

Listening without judgement and without forcing your own opinions on someone... so hard for most people to do, Alexandra. And it's something that needs to be practiced. Your picture of the roses today is simply beyond words.

Listening without judgment is definitely the way to go!  I feel that I am not a judgemental person at all, yet I find myself internally always judging, haha.  It is one of the attributes that I always try to work the hardest on trying not to do.

The tough part is to keep the gears in neutral, especially when it's a subject where there is a bit of passion involved. Great reminder, and it is worth the effort and discpline...the Rumi quote says it all.

Debb Janes EcoBroker and Bernie Stea JD   It does take practice, and we have found that many time people just spout unconsciously their views, and the subject can be changed immediately without them realizing it, particularly if you can find something in the environment that can take their attention away from the opinions they are giving.  A
