Racing for the Cure with RE/MAX

By
Real Estate Agent with RE/MAX Allegiance, Managing Broker/Branch Vice President

Susan G. Komen National Race for the CureTomorrow, Saturday June 7th, I'll be hitting the streets, running in the road, and racing with RE/MAX for the annual Susan G. Komen National Race for the Cure.  This annual event raises awareness and money for finding a cure for breast cancer which unfortunately afflicts so many women in this country.

I've been running this 5K race just about every year since I moved to the D.C. area in 1995.  Having trained for, run and completed all 26.2 miles of the Marines Corps Marathon in 2004, 5K races aren't really too much of a challenge anymore, but I enjoy supporting a great cause and a good run through D.C. on a Saturday morning.

Moreover, having been affiliated with RE/MAX Allegiance since the summer of 2003, it's been an annual pilgrimage to the race for our brokerage.  This year we've got at least 32 people from our brokerage meeting up and participating tomorrow.  Click here to view our RE/MAX team website.

RE/MAX Race for the Cure

If you feel so inclined to help out in the fight against breast cancer, I'd be honored for you to make a donation on my personal donation website.  As you'll see, I'm a little late to the game in asking for donations, but better late than never, and you can continue to donate even after the race.

I'm very proud to be part of a brokerage that's very supportive of great causes and charities like the National Race for the Cure.  The Race has a very personal meaning for me since my mother is an almost 20 year breast cancer survivor.

The pictures in this post are from last year's race.

Please consider making a donation to help raise much needed funds for the fight against breast cancer.

KEVIN:  I never told Patricia that!  I was drenched, but came back, showered, and spent 2 hours yesterday afternoon showing homes in the heat -- then I was exhausted!

CRAIG:  The race went well, though it was extremely hot and humid even at 8 A.M.  Mayor Adrian Fenty was there as was Condoleeza Rice and Cynthia Nixon (Miranda on Sex in the City).

Brian,

I think what you have done and the other agents in your office have done is remarkable. I have lost a friend to breast cancer-she was 38, and now sadly another friend of mine who was considered low risk a year ago-is now living with hope day by day. She was diagnosed when she was pregnant. The cancer has spread to her brain, her ovaries and she has been given little hope. She was blessed with a beautiful baby boy, who just turned 1, and he had the most greatest birthday party! His mother and father really held nothing back. So Brian on behalf of my friend-THANK YOU!

-Joe

JOESPH:  Thanks for your comments.  I hope that your friend survives through this terrible ordeal!  How wonderful that she was able to give birth to her son through all the trauma.

JEREMY:  I finished very sweaty!!  Actually finished in about 31 minutes which was about a minute better than last year.  Likely would have been much faster had it not been almost 90 degrees at 8 a.m.!
