If you have read our blog for any length of time...you may have been introduced to our two four-footed children. (I told that to a new Doctor once and he asked me if they were "deformed"....needless to say...he never became my doctor !) Magic and I share a birthday...he will be 20 on Saturday. He was the Runt of the Litter...fit in a coffee cup....and we got up every 3 hours to feed him...he had not quite gotten the hang of that. Cosmo...our then "older brother" cat would take him in front of the patio doors...and while he was bathing in the sunshine...gave him a bath sensing that Magic had some "life lessons" to learn. Here he is guiding the mouse...thankfully without four feet ! He has always been "Illusive" and disappears frequently ...though always inside the house...hence his name.
At age 18.5 ...Cosmo went to Kitty Heaven and I was heartbroken..I always tell David...No living thing will ever love me as much as he did. He got his name from Seinfeldt....Cosmo Kramer was clumsy and our Cosmo had oversize feet.
I knew our lives needed to be completed and that is when we got Houdini Alpha Hanson...a/k/a Dini. Dini came from a farm in Mayville about an hour away from us...when multiple trips to the Humane Society were proven unsuccessful. The "foster parents"...we have always considered ourselves to be Dini's "REAL" parents...told us he was 75% ragdoll...we didn't care what he was...affectionate and social... and we had no idea just how smart...or as David says "Too Smart" ...! He has been a real home entertainment center....he loves us and we love him right back.
To introduce him to our friends and neighbors we had a "Kittening" and his infamous portrait was the cover of the invitation. "Dini Martini" was passed around the 50+ guests and purred contentedly while being showered with every cat toy imaginable. If his middle name was not "Alpha" for soooo many reasons, it would be "Social"...he is that right down to his little mustache, white shoes and tuxedo chest.
We had company last Saturday...and for some forgetful reason...we left a pitcher of ice water ....and my cell phone on the dining room table after clearing the dishes. Sunday morning I could not find my phone...called it and it went into voice mail immediately...never a good sign. There on the table...in a puddle was my cell phone...with the pitcher laying on its side....and Dini....in the next room...knowing he would lose some popularity points...
