JC Penney has Closed their Lakeforest Mall Store in Gaithersburg, MD
The JC Penney department store at the Lakeforest mall has closed, laying off 113 employees. The store closed on July 5, 2019.
The Lakeforest Mall area is the subject of a potential major redevelopment effort.

Hello Roy - as a former retailer and an ex-Washingtonian, I still have contacts an as well as ab awareness of what is happening in that world. It should be interesting to see how/if Lakeforest evolves in its "new life".

Its' really quite sad to hear of the closing of some of the old shopping mainstays. Just this past week I learned one of my favorite stores, Charming Charlies is closing. We have lost Sears, and several others as well.
