Slide Rock Sedona Arizona
Sliding Down The Red Rocks
Slide Rock continues to get accolades in various publications. USA Readers voted Slide Rock as one of the "Top 5 Swimming Holes in the USA". It made the Travel Channel's list of "10 Top Swimming Holes in the United States". The channel compiled the list for a series "Top Secret Swimming Holes". I would dispute this as a "Top Secret Swimming Hole". Every time I pass by there in the summer, there is a line about 1 block long waiting to get in. It gets around 260,000 visitors a year and I am guessing that most people visit it from May through September.
How Long Is Slide Rock?
The red rock chute that is etched into the sandstone is around 80 feet long and two and a half feet to 4 feet wide in areas. Beware, the water is cold to freezing even in the summer months. I don't hear any complaints from those who come to enjoy the day on the red rocks. The slope of the slide is about 7% from start to finish.
The red rock slide is covered in algae which makes it slippery. Some say that it is more fun than an amusement park ride.

History of Slide Rock State Park
Settlers that came to the Sedona area and Verde Valley, in general, were farmers who grew what they needed to survive. Frank Pendley first came to Sedona and the Oak Creek area in 1907 to fish in Oak Creek. He came back to establish squatters rights per the Homestead Act around 1910. He was a typical farmer who raised pigs, chickens, cattle, horses, rabbits, turkeys, and mules to help him farm the land. With Oak Creek running through his land, Pendley was able to set up irrigation and established apple orchards which are still producing today. You name it and Frank Pendley grew it. He developed this into a commercial orchard business.
There were only a couple of primitive roads leading to Flagstaff or Jerome. It might take a couple of days to get the produce to market. In 1914, Arizona built a road through the canyon and Frank Pendley built some primitive log cabins for visitors to rest in 1933. The Apple Orchard and a few homesteads still survive today.

ABOUT ME: “Many buyers and sellers are skeptical about salespeople. So am I! But, I am not a typical salesperson. I put myself in your shoes and help you make decisions based on how I would want to proceed if I were you. In other words, what steps would I take and what is right for you? How will this transaction be beneficial for you? How will it help you move forward with your goals? How can I make it as smooth and pleasant as possible? What is in your best interests as we move forward?
Let’s face it, you won’t really know that I am not a typical salesperson until you get to know me. I am confident you will feel at ease and comfortable knowing I can find solutions for you. If you don’t feel that way, please let me know. I want to be the best I can for you."
